Gripper jaws that let a robot hold scissors.
YouTuber Sambucha, building a hair-cutting robot, needed the arm to hold scissors reliably. We designed custom jaws shaped to the handles and printed them in our lab.

A standard gripper could not hold the scissors.
Scissors are thin, asymmetric and need to open and close. The arm needed jaws that hold the handles in a fixed position.
How we approached it.
Shaped jaws
We shaped the jaws to the scissor handles so they seat in the same position every time.
Printed in-house
We printed the jaws in our lab, so changes went from CAD to the arm quickly.
On the arm
The jaws mounted to the existing gripper and held the scissors on the robot arm.
